the results were inconclusive pie

Everyday life

Last night I watched the movie “Waitress.” It’s a sweet movie. I wouldn’t call it great, but it was definitely enjoyable to watch. Very much in the mode of “Like Water for Chocolate” “Chocolat” and “Babette’s Feast” where food represents the passions and dreams of the female creator. Anyway, throughout the movie, Jenna, the main character makes or thinks about these incredible pies as representations of her emotions and events in her life. The movie left me hankering for a pie, so today I made a quiche which I’m calling “the results were inconclusive.” I won’t elaborate on the title at this point. Maybe later.I created this out of leftover ham, a mix of jack and cheddar cheeses (leftover from whenever), spinach (leftover) eggs, milk, and a crust made out of leftover brown rice (strange but quite tasty).  No measurements. Just mixed the brown rice with egg white, baked it at 425 F for 10 minutes, tossed in the spinach, poured in the mixed up eggs, cheese, and milk. Baked for 45 min on 325F until crusty golden on top. It was amazingly yummy. I’m not a big quiche fan (too high in cholesterol), but sometimes these things are needed.I’ve got some mixed berries in the freezer ready for the next emotion I need to bake into submission.
