I’m feeling really happy right now. I worked with a group of adult literacy learners at LVR this morning, then went to Open Face, a funky little sandwich shop in the South Wedge neighborhood of Rochester. They have the most amazing gingered carrots. Who would have thought cooked carrots could be so yummy. I also had a blackbean salad that had the most wonderful layers of taste I have experienced in a long time. Then, I wandered over to one of my favorite coffee shops. This place is downtown and is located in a former car dealershop. It’s got this great art deco architecture. They play an excellent selection of jazz, and the place is always buzzing with activity. Surprisingly, it’s one of the best places to write because the ambient noise level is such that it becomes white noise and distractions are minimized.
So, here I am with a full happy tummy, good music, and I’m working on the Fast Capitalism article. There is much to be written, but I’m feeling good about the ideas that are buzzing their way from my brain and into my fingers.
I’m hanging out here until 4:30 at which time I’m meeting a friend for drinks and a light dinner, then it’s off to the Rochester International Jazz Festival. 9 nights of a smorgasbord of music to choose from. And on top of that the weather is nice.
Life doesn’t get much better.
