Here’s a clip of what Obama actually said to Joe the Plumber. I understand though why some people misconstrue it. He doesn’t answer in a soundbite – you actually have to listen and pay attention.

Part of me wonders and worries whether through our desire to build collaborative/responsive learning environments we have left out helping people develop the art of listening to and making sense of oral arguments. Is there a need to return a bit of oratorical and rhetorical study to our curricula?
