I just found some great resources and videos.
The Joan Ganz Cooney Center which is focusing on advancing children’s learning in the digital age. Through the website, you can access short videos of a wide range of scholars discussing issues of learning in the digital age. Two of these include Jim Gee and dana boyd.
The center also has a channel on NL Youtube that led me to more with dana boyd, Mimi Ito and lots of others discussing their work at the Handheld Learning 2008 conference.
I’ve started on this new trajectory of reading and oh my. It makes me want to start over and do another doctorate but this time as part of one of these groups that are doing such interesting stuff. I love my research, but I did it on my own (ok, I had a committee, but it’s not the same). And now, working at a small teaching institution, I feel very alone and on the fringe at times. I know there is no perfect world, but there does seem to be an advantage to being a member of a large research group (like those at UConn, Berkeley, or MIT).
