So many ideas

I came away from AERA with so many ideas. I had a great extended conversation with one of the smartest people I know, and she really pushed me to think about some important issues. As such, I now am thinking about writing a literature review that addresses at least some of her concerns. And there’s a theoretical piece that an editor gave me the go ahead on that I need to write. I also have ideas for ways of thinking about my data. I have two more interviews to do. I’ve got one I need to transcribe.Oh, and I just got a book contract.

So what did I do today? Garden, went on a long walk with my husband, and read Love in the Time of Cholera. Well, I did also read a few student papers. It’s a strange balance between giving oneself time to think and to be a whole person and commiting oneself to writing.

I’ve given myself some time off. Now it’s time to dig in. I’m excited. I hope I don’t get distracted by teaching (but I know I will).
