When my students get hurt

Violence is bad. Duh, no kidding. Hate crimes are abhorrent. Duh, no kidding. And when the police add to the problem, the situation becomes untenable. Ok, no argument there. But when it happens to my students, it stops being an intellectual position and becomes personal and viseral.
