I can’t give up my teaching (it pays the bills), but I stepped away from the writing to see if it would make me feel better – not so stretched. I swear I’m going to hit the next person who disses urban kids. Yeah, there are troubled kids in urban areas, but there are also hard working, focused, resilient kids too.

The premier literacy journal, Research in the Teaching of English, has changed editors. The interesting thing about research journals is that who the editor is strongly affects the editorial content. The new editorship of RTE is exciting. Now don’t get me wrong.
